SUPERGIRL - Season 4.20

SUPERGIRL – SEASON 4, EP. 20:  “Will The Real Miss Tessmacher Please Stand Up?”

We’re closing in on the end of the season, and the Girl of Steel is hard pressed to clear her name, as well as stop Lex Luthor from completeing one of his most nefarious plots ever.  As we’ve seen more of his plans unveiled, Kara and Lena head to Kaznia to see what’s going on there, meanwhile, Dreamer, Brainy, and the team try to hold off the Sons of Liberty.

Kara and Lena are headed to Kaznia, and Kara’s not comfortable flying on a jet (wonder why), and she says that Lena doesn’t have to go with her, but Lena insists---wanting to confront Lex herself.

Alex and Kelly are out for a run, with Martial Law in place, Alex has nothing to do.  They chat about that, and then Alex gets a call from the adoption agency.  She’s going to be a Mom!

We see the funeral for Lockwood’s wife.  George is giving a speech.  Says he misses his mom.  Afterwards, Lockwood arrives at the DEO, and starts taking over and demanding they find Dreamer, finding the alien who killed his wife (the alien Mom from last episode whose husband was led away by the SOL), and figuring out how James Olsen got super powers.  Haley isn’t there, so Lockwood is making demands.

James, Brainy, and Nia are at the Fortress of Solitude, testing his powers, when Brainy gets a call from the DEO, informing him that Lockwood is there.  Haley is in DC trying to get Lockwood’s clearance revoked.  He takes off to see what’s going on.

Kara and Lena are on the plane when it’s struck by purple lightning.  Lena goes to try and land the plane, and Lena struggles to get it working again to land right.  She manages to get it to land, and goes to check on Kara…who feigns fainting.  Someone expected their arrival.

Kaznia, where Lena and Kara find out that Lex has an army behind him.  They find a lab, where they see pods.  They figure out that the equipment as Amertek on them.  They also find out that there are some files left behind, so they dig in to reading them.

Alex and Kelly talk about the baby about to be born that she will adopt.  She’s frantic because she only has 12 hours to decide if she wants to be a Mom.  Kelly is trying to reassure Alex that she can do this.  Alex really feels she needs to talk to Kara, but Kelly fills in for her.  She helps Alex figure it out.

Lockwood’s stooge informs him that Lena Luthor had been working with the DEO.  Lockwood wonders why, and they decide to check her lab.  Brainy goes to stop them, but they decide to enter anyway.

Lena and Kara discover that Lex was spying on the DEO, and that he set up the attack on the carnival last year.  He’s also been experimenting on aliens.  They hear a noise, and they go to check it out, opening a door to reveal….Eve Tessmacher.  She seems happy to have been found.  Lena and Kara are confused.
They ask Eve where Lex is, and she won’t budge.  She says she likes Lena and Kara, but she’s always going to be on Lex’s side.

Alex and Kelly chat some more about the baby.  The mother is still in labor, and doesn’t want to see Alex until AFTER the baby is born.  Alex is showing all the signs of new mother panic, and Kelly is trying to give her confidence that it will be okay.

Kara and Lena continue to talk to Eve, but she seems sketchy.  She says Lex keeps his plans compartmentalized.  Kara then notices claw marks on the floor, and they go to follow where they go.

Lockwood’s son George shows up, wondering where his Dad is, and missing his Mom.  Lockwood is preoccupied in finding where the alien who killer her is.  As well as figuring out what Lena’s research is.

More Alex and Kelly.   Alex talks about her Mom inspiring her to being a better person, she now feels the weight of what being a mother is going to be about.  Kelly reminds her how she’s been there for everyone, and that she won’t fail as a mother.

Kara, Lena, and Eve come across Lex’s lab, where they find Kryptonite and Harun-El.  They figure out Kaznia is looking to invade America.  Eve says that’s the plan, and that Lex has a tank.  Eve starts freaking out.  They see the Red Daughter on a screen Kara activates.  Eve calls her by that name.

Alex and Kelly are looking at strollers when a phone call comes in.  It’s not good news.  It turns out the grandparents talked to a priest, and convinced their granddaughter to keep the child.  No adoption for Alex.  She’s heartbroken.

Kara and Lena figure out that the Red Daughter is not a clone, but she’s a blank slate controlled by Lex.  Kara feels that there’s still some bit of Supergirl in here.  When they ask Eve if she’s with Lex, the REAL Eve shows up, and says she is.  She then sets off a bomb to explode, trapping Kara and Lena as she makes her escape.

At the DEO, Brainy explains that James was giving a calculated amount to the Harun-El to save his life, and as he explains that to Lockwood, an agent of the DEO informs him of his wife’s killer’s location.  He orders a DEO team to go out to grab her.  He’s about ready to take the serum.

Lena and Kara are looking for an escape, and they find out a way through the air duct.  Kara hesitates, saying she forgot her tape recorder.  She goes back to the lab, and with a bit of heat vision, destroys it.

Lockwood discovers the location of the woman who killed his wife, and they capture her.  He invades their hideout, and orders them all captured.  When Brainy tries to reason with them, he says they were harboring a criminal.

Kara discovers the DEO prisoner transfers, who were signed by Sara Locker, who is working with Lex.  Lena sees Eve, and gives chase.

Outside of the sanctuary, Lockwood is called about by Dreamer.  He wants them arrested.

Lena catches up to Eve, but finds out Eve has powers.  Supergirl appears, and takes Eve down as more of her duplicates appear.

Lockwood is about to have the DEO arrest Dreamer, when Brainy says that Lockwood is violating the Constitution.  He tells them to follow their hearts, and they stand down.  Dreamer smiles at him, but as he turns around and Lockwood injects himself with the Harun-El.  He goes to attack Dreamer.

Kara continues to battle Eve, and more of her pop up.  She then disposes of them.  Eve than takes down Eve one last time.  She then goes to get Kara.

J’Onn finally shows up just as Lockwood goes to destroy Dreamer.  He and James battle, and J’Onn assures him that while Lockwood is the law, regimes change.  James tells J’Onn to toss Lockwood into the tanker.  He does after Lockwood misses, and the tanker explodes.  J’Onn then orders everyone to get the aliens to safety.

Lena finds Kara, and they make their way back to the jet, when Eve disappears.  They figure that the real Eve was probably never there.  They take off.

The flames rise higher from the tanker, and Lockwood emerges from it.

On the flight back home, Kara is pondering what happened, and Lena explains that she did what she did because she didn’t want to lose her friend, and see her get hurt.  Kara is ready to say that she’s Supergirl, but Lena goes on to say she trusted Eve, and she lied to her, and betrayed her.  She doesn’t think she can handle that.  So, Kara decides to not tell her after all, for fear of losing her friend.

Alex and Kelly talk some more about Alex’s loss, and how her relationship with Maggie ended over the decision to have kids.  Kelly talks about her own relationship with a woman…a fellow soldier, who ended up dying before they could come out as a couple.  She says that her girlfriend told her that she would find someone else to love should she be gone…Kelly says that while this is a deep wound for Alex, she will get another chance.

George and Lockwood talk, and George now realizes that his father’s cause was nothing more than a selfish crusade, as much as Lockwood tries to convince him otherwise.  George says that because of this cause, HE is responsible for his mother’s death.

Kara and James talk about the Red Daughter, and she wonders what would’ve happened if SHE had landed there, the things that could’ve happened.  James asks her why she didn’t tell Lena, and she says that because of all the people around her have betrayed her.  She says that once she captures Lex, she will tell Lena the truth.

Kara heads to the White House to inform President Baker that the country is in danger, and she says that Lex is working with one of her staff, and that she felt it was a good idea that she warn the President by bringing him the information.  He asks her if anyone has seen this info, and she says no.  He then presses a button under his desk, says she did the right thing, and next thing we see, she is captured by the secret servicemen and has a hood put over her head.

______________________________________________

Another amazing episode in the books, and now the plan has been expose to us to see, but there seems to be a couple of more twists and turns before we get to the season finale.

Eve Tessmacher.  Well.  Was she a clone, did she have superpowers…what’s the deal with this woman?  She’s a slippery little wench, but she does her job well.  Her loyalty and love for Lex is unwavering, despite Lena telling her that Lex only loves ONE person---himself.  But whatever she is---or was---one thing is for certain:  You can’t BUY that kind of loyalty.  Seems that Lex is yet still a step ahead of our team, but they ARE gaining ground.  And we have two more episodes to see whether or not they catch up to him.

Kara and Lena now realize that the Red Daughter exists, and know SHE was the one who attacked the White House, and with the information obtained from the lab, they know that Lex has an informant on the inside.  Unfortunately, however, it seems there’s more to President Baker as well….as in…maybe HE is another Luthor stooge?  I have FELT through most of this season since his first appearance, that there was something OFF about him---and I’ve NO DOUBT I’m right.  His capturing of Kara at the end of the episode is just proof in the pudding.  I will be REAL interested in uncovering HIS dirty little secret.

Alex got to have down time this episode, and it was an emotional rollercoaster for her.  From having fears to being a new mother, to not even getting to be a mother at all, we see Alex’s fears and thoughts about what being a mother is all about.  Thankfully, Kelly relates her own experiences to her, and gives Alex a shoulder to lean on that is NOT Kara.  The relationship is blooming.

Kara and Lena.  They work well as a team, and credit Kara for keeping Supergirl under wraps for the most part of this investigation.  But it’s also painful to watch two close friends rely and tell each other MOST things…but one who HAS to keep a secret…a BIG ONE at that…for the sake of said friendship.  I fear the fallout once Lena finds out Kara is Supergirl.  That betrayal may send Lena down a dark path.

Lockwood’s demons have come home to roost.  With the death of his wife at the hands of the alien mother from the previous episode, and the obsession with his cause, he has now shown that the cause was more worth the price he paid---his wife and his son’s love.  Credit to George for finally seeing the light, and realizing that this cause of his father’s isn’t HIS cause.  What this will do to Lockwood in the final two episodes will be interesting.

Credit to Brainy for holding down the fort, and when push came to shove with Lockwood ordering the DEO to arrest Dreamer…he managed to appeal to their basic humanity.  Add in another credit for J’Onn FINALLY joining the fight and being the Martian Manhunter we all know and love.  James ALSO refused to be out of the fight, so it looks like the Super Friends are about ready to reunite for one last hoedown with a powered up Lockwood, the Sons of Liberty, the Kaznian Army, the Red Daughter, and Lex himself.  This season finale is proving to be must-see TV.  I can’t wait!  It’s been a somewhat slow season, but this 3rd act has been spectacular, so the season is finishing with a flourish.

That’s all for this week, and I look forward to you guys subscribing and leaving a comment.  I appreciate you all being here.  And hey….pass the good word around, will ya?

Until next week….Up, up, and away!
