Radio has been a passion of mine since about the mid 1990's when I spent a year in Hawaii with NO TV to watch...not even the local stuff. I was relegated to getting my entertainment from the radio, and the bug bit. Before that, I had been chasing my career in television and film production. But radio seemed to be an easier goal, and allowed me a lot more creative freedom. So, I became a radio disc jockey. I had started out on a little college station in North San Diego County called KKSM-AM 1320, which eminated from the campus of Palomar College. I got started on the air in 1998, doing a shift on Thursday mornings. It got my feet wet, and by the time the fall semester was closing down, I was given a chance to be on live during the break. I jumped at the chance, having proven my worth with my "format show". I was allowed to develop my OWN show...where I got to do what I wanted...and thus, on December 26th of 1998---The X-Nation was born.
Here we are, a few days removed from the show's 20th Anniversary, and I thought I'd share the program that was celebrating the show's 2nd Anniversary. I had played with the format of the show off and on during it's time on the air (which ended in 2004), and I started incorporating new Alternative Rock into the playlist, trying to freshen it up for a modern age (and because I now worked IN the radio biz for a small company that housed 3 stations in its building, one of which was an alternative rock format station, KFSD-FM...or as well called it, Premium Radio 92/1) I wanted to stay current and hone my craft, because...well...I wanted to BE on the station. So, I had tinkered the show to a more updated format, while still playing the classic music I had grown up with my whole life. This was the end result. I'm proud of all my college work, and I hope to one day share it with you. Until then, enjoy the playlist, and see if you can find these songs to add to your library---you'll be glad you did. As we depart 2018 and enter into 2019...a reflection back on a memorable---at least to ME, anyway---past. Thanks for checking out this blog, and if you haven't subscribed yet---PLEASE DO SO! You'd make me one joyus dude! And hey...tell all your friends! Happy New Year, everyone!
